Taken on Yakushima, Japan.
From Kagushima it takes around 4 hours to reach Yakushima, a small island south of Kyushu.
Quite the whole island is covered with a big forest stretching over the mountain landscape. The nature is partially so untouched that the UNESCO declared it Nature World Heritage.
But not only the mountains are excellent for hiking, but the beaches are great for swimming, too. In late August the water was very warm, just like the sun. During the nighttime something special happens on these beaches. Thousands of little sea-turtles hatch and try to make their way across the beach towards the sea. For them it’s certainly not as easy as for Kai in this picture because they are smaller than a man’s hand and many perils lay ahead.
